Elon and Trump Break Internet with Interview that Almost Wasn’t Heard Round the World

Elon Musk and Donald Trump took to X Spaces last night for a highly anticipated and highly objected to interview.

And at 7pm CST…nada.

Thousands began reporting an error message telling them they were unable to enter the “Space.” 7:10…7:20…crickets. Minutes later, Elon said in a tweet there was a massive DDOS attack on X and followed up with a pledge to figure it out and offer something soon. Eventually, an over 2-hour interview took place.

 

Here are some of the early-on stats: 1.32+ million live listeners, 16.4 million unique listeners during the live, 84 million views on the post in just 3 hours, 374,000 likes, 111,000 reposts, 318,000 comments, 46,000 bookmarks. And that was by 1 AM.

Game changer. Legitimately, from a media and communications standpoint? Game changer.

It reminded me how sick I am of the current debate model–the grandstanding moderators, the gotcha questions, the forced soundbites, and entirely avoided answers to important questions. Kill me now.

 

I would take this format any day, all day because it allowed for exhaustive, unfiltered, unscripted, and uninterrupted responses–which is apparently more dangerous than any disease or detonation could ever be.

 

The EU–EUROPEAN Union–sent a letter threatening legal action if Elon did not censor Trump during the event. I know it’s been a minute, but we have not been under European rule for quite some time. There was a whole tea party and war about it. And for those that missed those headlines…there was a Broadway play recently highlighting our break-up with King George III. He sent an “armed battalion to remind us of his love?” Anyone? Sound familiar?

How dare ye? Free speech in the UK and Europe isn’t going so swimmingly right now.

 

This side of the pond a White House Press Corps member asked KJP if the White House had any options to “intervene and stop the interview…stop potential misinformation…” I am not sure if anyone has made them aware but there was in fact a nuclear option available to them…DON’T LISTEN.

 

That’s how free speech works. You don’t need to file any writ, ring any bell, or light cities on fire…you can simply CHOOSE NOT TO LISTEN. Or if you’re advanced, choose to listen but not believe. Voila! With these amazing skills you are safe in virtually any space.

 

Y’all, people were losing their minds yesterday over the possibility of this interview. Why is that? Because they saw CONTROL slipping through their bony, wagging, little fingers as they realized they are no longer the gate-keepers of the air.

 

They could no longer prevent full access to fact or opinion, no longer control the narrative. And control must be maintained if your entire strategy for success consists of being able to lie your ____ off free of correction.

 

I hate to tell them, but they haven’t had total control for a while. The ratings for legacy media and cable news channels like CNN, MSNBC, etc., are abysmal. Viewers went seeking greener pastures long ago. Viewers have even wandered from FOX News to RAV, NEWSMAX, and other online sources. Decades have passed since it would have occurred to me to turn on ABC or NBC for breaking news. I watch CNN or MSNBC some but purely for perspective on the opposition or to gauge how insane the world is. I would NEVER expect unbiased fact from them.

 

Make no mistake…Trump on X was a game changer. Maybe not an “election changer” but it definitely flipped the script on how information is shared. Election campaigns have to assess their access to the public differently now. And you can bet the public is reassessing the access it has to candidates. People are sick to death of hearing and seeing over-produced, under-informed fawning sessions where everything is promised but nothing is actually discussed or delivered. Blah, blah… “you’re pretty, you’re historic and special…” Done.

 

We are so sick of being patronized…so fragile that we can only be given spoonfuls of sugar–coddling, complimentary, monosyllabic answers…lest we get overwhelmed. We are not all idiots. I know there is evidence to the contrary, but I am resolute here.

 

We want to be at the grown-up table having grown-up conversations. Take the celebuticians, freebies, and threats of being on the wrong side of history and shove ’em. We want to hear solutions for the economy, future, and the super great but super porous border. If they tell me, as a Texan, how great the border has been on their watch one more time…Serenity now. Fence around or find out, mi amigos.

I want to hear how someone is going to quit spending my money on ridiculous stuff. I want to hear someone acknowledge the reality of our waning economy and global influence. We see it. We know it. Let’s talk honestly about it.

 

I listened to Trump on X for over 2 hours and did not have to endure one conversation about nonsense that only matters in liberal bubbles…like the need for drag-shamans in hospitals, schools…or tampons in boys’ bathrooms. It was the border, economy, energy, the global climate that seems to be trending towards war…

 

Isn’t sanity refreshing?? I’ll take Trump, warts and all–because at least we can see the very real skin he has in the game (proven by the scar on his ear). Media will trash today the monumental moment that occurred last night. They will do and say anything to diminish the impact or dismiss the content. Take heart, these are hopefully the dying gasps and spinning wheels of the antiquated media machine grinding to a halt.
