The Mamdani Matter
Zohran Kwame Mamdani immigrated to NYC at age 7; graduated from Bronx High School of Science and earned a degree in Africana Studies from Bowdoin College. He ran as a proud socialist for the New York State Assembly for Queens’ 36th District and is a member of the DSA, Democratic Socialists of America.
.
I tell you this because it is NOT AT ALL shocking that NYC may elect a socialist mayor.
Mamdani is one of SEVEN SIOs (Socialists-In-Office) in Albany’s State Senate and Assembly. By the DSA’s own count, there are three (was five before the squad lost re-elections) serving nationally. There are sixty socialists serving at the state level and ninety-two serving at the local level.
Mamdani won the NYC Democratic Primary with a sweeping final vote count of 545,334. That is 56% of the 1 million ballots cast. Mamdani drew large swaths of affluent, highly educated white voters to the polls. His most aggregate demographic of support came from younger voters who like his message of “Affordability.” Which I find so strange and also so predictable that the left continues to be the solution to the problems they themselves are causing. Could we send a man-on-the-street reporter to NYC to ask those young voters crying out for affordability why they think their lives in Democratic NYC are so expensive??
Mamdani ran on a faithful DSA socialist platform, including these gems of wisdom and success in reality:
- Nationalized energy
- Nationalized utilities
- Nationalized housing
- Nationalized healthcare
- Nationalized transportation
- Nationalized childcare
- Wage and wealth caps
- Rank-choice voting…which is a nightmare
- Abolish the Senate, Electoral College, and reform the Supreme Court. I say again…ABOLISH THE SENATE and ELECTORAL COLLEGE. The DSA wants to end checks and balances and replace it with mob rule without brakes.
- Abolish capitalism
- Abolish ICE, end policing and defund police…because chaos as compassion has worked so well in other states.
- Palestinian solidarity and BDS from Israel
Y’all, that list should scare the hell out of you. And the fact that it didn’t bother more New Yorkers is extremely revealing. It’s entirely possible that 56% of voters in NYC are among the most highly educated, highly emotional, and lowest informed people in the country. There is not a single thing on the DSA platform that has worked well in any other city. Or country. My word, we have watched voters run from the implementation of such policies (after just a few years) and right into the arms of Donald Trump. But sure…try it again, I guess.
Socialism has worked extremely well for the GOP. Though it destroys the cities that choose it.
In a video that resurfaced today, Mamdani told the YDSA meeting he zoomed into that there were convenient and popular positions like equity and affordability that the public embraced. “But let’s not forget or leave behind the positions that are right and correct, even if inconvenient, unpopular…that the public isn’t ready for but needs.” Like ceasing means of production. His words, not mine.
That is the scarier part of Mamdani–the positions he holds dear but isn’t saying aloud yet. Because the public hasn’t been sufficiently “readied.”
But here are the dots I want you to connect as you consider America becoming socialist. Mamdani is the predictable and desired fruit of a years long psy-op–a campaign through media and rhetoric to “prepare the way.”
Friends, Mamdani is exactly why the left has insisted on equating Trump with Hitler, insisted on calling ICE and police the gestapo. Remember the crying mimi at the No Kings march who tearfully admitted she was scared to death of everything? She was scared to death of everything on purpose, by the left. So, she would be looking for a savior.
Convince the country they are victims. Then produce for them a hero.
This is why we have had all the unhinged swearing and fighter language from the left since November. “You have to get mad! You have to be loud! you have to fight! By any means…” Oh look, a candidate who is mad, loud, and a fighter…
56% of NYC voters bought it hook, line, and sinker. High emotion. Low information. I guarantee the bodega owner who liked the sound of “affordability” will loathe the reality of government grocery stores. But no one is thinking critically. No one is walking nationalized everything all the way out. They are embracing and ushering in the dystopia they fear the most.
There is not one example of an enduring socialist paradise. You may have pockets of socialist policies but not socialism on a comprehensive scale. Norway? Sweden? Capitalist economies are required to support their social supports.
The only socialism that works is the one that isn’t actually socialism.
And the only fully implemented socialism, is forcibly implemented. Instead, what we find are remnants of urban epicenters, quickly vacated by those that can afford to flee the cost and crime and now inhabited by only dependents of the government.
Welcome to your liberation, peasants. If Mamdani takes office, you will be free indeed! Liberated of competition, choice, and convenience…freed from your chains of safety and stability.
“You will have nothing and like it.”
This is the promise of the Democratic Socialists of America. And they intend to fulfill it.
