Vance Takes On Tim “Lotus Toes” Walz in the VP Debate

I am giddy. Just giddy for tonight’s VP Debate.  I will obviously be wearing my “Weirdos & Normies ’24” shirt and making my traditional “fight night” inspired menu, which for this evening includes:

  • General Tsim’s Chicken–it’s just like Tso’s…spicy, seems fancy but with entirely common and cheap ingredients, and made by the Chinese to appeal to an American with leftovers from a bare pantry. (That’s so on the nose, you don’t even know. lol)
  • Hot and Sour soup…also in honor of The Venerable-ish Wu Walz. I went back and watched Walz’s gubernatorial debates…you’re welcome…and I have a theory. Walz has a low boiling point. He gets “hot and sour” quick when his strategy of “be loud, be forceful” dares to be resisted. I am hoping we see that tonight.
  • Minnesota’s Famous Tator Tot Hot Dish…why? Ask Minnesotans. This is their signature dish. It’s essentially Shepherd’s Pie with tater tots. This works for our menu because apart from the beef all the other ingredients are canned or frozen. Just like Tim.
  • Cincinnatti Chili. It’s spaghetti noodles with chili and cheese on top. Like JD Vance, it’s normal everyday staples you wouldn’t normally put together, but it works.

I know my menu seems like odd pairings. I don’t make the rules or pick the candidates. Not everybody can be from Texas.

Now seriously though, you don’t pay me enough but I’m Christian and I have a servant’s heart, so I really did go back and watch Walz and Vance’s previous debates.  Walz V. Jensen–the 2022 MN governor’s race. First, I’d just like to say this, “What were y’all thinking, Minnesota?!?!” Who hurt you? Why on earth would you elect Walz not once but twice?? Jensen was intelligent, thoughtful, and ENTIRELY RIGHT ABOUT COVID, while Walz was Walz and cratered your state unnecessarily.

Minnesota is actually a good reflection of the greater nation. Walz won by a slimmer margin in 2022 than his first campaign and it seemed like he may be out due to Minnesota’s soaring inflation and rising crime. (You would think, RIGHT?!) However, while greater Minnesota went way red, the Twin Cities remained deep blue with the rioters and radicals leaving their burning ruins to vote for the “Coach.”

Here’s the thing about Walz though–the folksy, everyday Joe persona is a grift.

It’s a thin veneer that works when it’s allowed to be presented without question or critical examination. But I’m telling you, Walz is a rager. I got a feeling about him and I think he is an alpha parading as a beta. In interviews, debates, and crowd interactions there is the occasional flash of resentment or disgust when the peasants do not curtsy in his courts. Take last weekend’s Michigan game where Walz was booed coming and going and on the way up the stadium ramp Walz flips the bird to a heckler. Bro–you’re running for VP. You know cameras are watching everything you do. You couldn’t summon the self-control to just smile and wave?

The Dems are trying to lower expectations with leaked reports of Walz’s wobbly knees and nerves. Hogwash. He’s not nervous. He genuinely thinks he is amazing and brilliant. His weakness isn’t lack of ego strength, it’s his record. It quite frankly, sucks and being confronted on it is his kryptonite. Vance has two easy fronts to attack Walz’s record on–failed policies and destructive leadership, and the sheer number of flaws and fallacies in it. My word…combat duty, rank, coaching status, number of trips to China, when you were in China…take your pick.

He hasn’t been kept in cloistered solitude because he can’t debate. It’s because his history is problematic and honestly, he’s not that likeable.

In staged settings, he plays the role of the “re-imagined masculinity” the left love. With the awkward bowing, heart hands, and feigned emotion, our shuffling geisha is just that, rehearsed countenance and forced subservience playing a role. (I realize the geisha is Japanese but courtesan just doesn’t hit the same.) But his reputation in his administration and community? Kinda a bully.

Vance wasn’t necessarily my first pick for VP but I think he’s a better choice than we have realized or can appreciate just yet. In his senate debates, he is extremely intelligent with a command of details and data but still likeable in a “common sense bro” way. He is easy to be impressed by and even easier to nod along with. Which is why the left’s attacks on him are such silly reaches. He grew up poor and went to Yale? Weirdo. He was smart enough for Silicon Valley but wise enough to leave it? The jerk. Vance is exactly the normie the left hates and must mock and label. He rejects a justifiable victimhood and succeeded in spite of inequality in opportunity. He flies in the face of the notion that “Government is the savior everyone needs.” He is not impressed with them, doesn’t need them, and they hate him for it. We haven’t seen a truly great debate since 2016 and barely then with all the early Trump chaos. I pray this is one for the ages.

Let’s get ready to rumble!
