War in Wisconsin: The Battle of Words, Curds, and the Courts

Game on.  We see you Wisconsin, simmer down. What in the world is going out there? It’s not even football season and everyone is losing their minds over…an April vote? It seems like this is “nacho” ordinary election… (I couldn’t help myself.)

Why is that? Simple. (Why is it a big deal, not why can’t I help myself. And don’t you dare answer, I don’t need that sass right now.)

Wisconsin is ground zero for the left’s efforts to control the judiciary.

If the left can win this election and flip the majority of the state’s Supreme Court to liberal control, they will have the power to override the will of all the people.  I kid you not. This is not an overstatement.

And we knew this was coming. Scott Pressler @ThePersistance has been screaming and waving flags and fire about this since November. But the Trump administration is busier than a one-armed paper hanger. You can only save the world on so many fronts at the same time.

Here is what is at stake.

1. Control of the WI Supreme Court: The outcome of the election will determine the ideological balance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Currently, conservatives hold a majority, but if a liberal candidate wins, it will flip the court to liberal control. This change in control would affect several significant decisions.

2. Impact on State Laws: A liberal-majority court would immediately challenge or overturn conservative laws, in areas like state’s voter ID requirements, abortion restrictions, and how legislative districts are drawn.

3. Redistricting Impacts National Landscape. If the left wins control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, then they win the ability and opportunity for redistricting that could change the number of U.S. congressional house seats ahead of the midterms and potentially shift the balance of the power in Congress. And just like that, Trump’s very narrow majority margin and ability to execute his agenda would grind to a screeching, or more screeching than now, halt. This is the most critical reason for all of the hubbub.

4. National Implications:  A shift to a liberal court would empower and encourage similar moves in other swing states, potentially affecting national judicial trends.

The left is already waging war on Trump through the judiciary. If they succeed, they will make our president, regardless of who holds office, impotent–a figurehead for photo-ops but holding no real executive power as they reject every idea, and object to every order. Hence all the big cheeses flying in and all the cheddar being thrown around. Soros and his ilk are spending all the green in Green Bay right now. They already have their judicial activists in place to continue fundamentally transforming the country into something unrecognizable. But armed with the judiciary and two more democratic house seats? Well, that’s a different war with entirely different weapons.

It’s about power, people, and the left will stop at nothing to grab it.

We shall see this evening.
