The Righteous Riot

I’m just gonna go ahead and tell you now. It’s not a thing. The righteous riot, I mean. It’s an oxymoron.

What is happening across the cities of our nation is not an exercise in civil disobedience, peaceful protest, or righteous riot. It’s lawlessness. Organized, funded anarchy. And some will fall for it every time.

Climate change, Gaza, ICE & immigration…BLM. 2020 Summer of Love and Mostly Peaceful Protests…destroying property, ruining livelihoods, preventing others from going to their homes and jobs, stopping traffic…these are not righteous ways to seek justice. If they were, they would have accomplished it at some point, yes?

These modes and methods of disagreement are not for you, Believer. Not for any reason. That seems so obvious, right? But rebellious anarchy isn’t the beginning of this cycle of destruction; it is the end. Anarchy is the loud and lawless fruit, overripe, rotted, and finally falling to the ground. But it’s beginning–its roots–were quiet and barely noticeable. Apathy. It even sounds gentler.

Apathy. Apostasy. Anarchy. For God’s sake. That’s the cycle of sin. FOR CHRISTIANS.

Not the lost. There is no cycle of sin for the lost. It is only sin, as it was for us too, children of wrath, enemies of God. All the time.

It is the Believer alone, who can be apathetic and apostate. Because the Believer alone, has THE TRUTH to dismiss, disregard, and abandon.
And, we do.
And, it seems right in our own eyes while doing it. And we too, will call it righteous.

Abandoning the Truth frees up our hands to take up the offenses of others, the causes and wars…and the weapons deemed “necessary” to fight them. Like cinderblocks. And rocks thrown at strangers and innocent people. In defense of others, of course. “I stand with students…except the ones I am preventing from attending class.” I stand with workers…except the ones whose business I am destroying.

When we abandon the truth, we do what is right in our own eyes. Still. All of us. But we don’t always see it as the rebellion it is.

We root on bad, in the name of good.

And think ourselves good for doing it. The noble and righteous warrior. Ha! But unrighteous roads never lead to righteous places. There is no “good cause” good enough to make rebellion and ruin, righteous.

We are APATHETIC about sin, about obedience, about holiness. But, “tolerance” seems good, and we choose that word instead and will call it good.

We are APOSTATE in the church and from God’s Word. But, “justice” seems good, and we choose that word instead and we call it good.

We live in REBELLION to authority. But, “autonomy” seems good, and we will call it good.

We are bearing the fruit of no absolute truth.

Friend. GET IN THE WORD. Beware that what SEEMS right in your own eyes and your neighbor’s eyes may not be, if there is no King on the throne, but you.

Hitler believed he could condition man to go any which way he wanted them to because he embraced a reality where he, himself, was completely untethered and unbound to any absolute standard of morality- his words.
Mussolini also made himself a god on the foundation of relativism, “Relativism signifies contempt for any fixed categories, and contempt for men who adhere to them with “objective, eternal truth.” The modern relativist believes he has the right to create his own ideology ***and the right to enforce it with all the energy he is capable of.***”
Sound familiar?
Peace…BY ANY MEANS? They don’t even see the hypocrisy or irony on their cardboard signs.

Isn’t this what we are seeing and doing today? Isn’t the lawlessness and Marxism echoing these exact ideas? Isn’t this the depraved defiance of the transgender movement? I am? And, I alone?

Isn’t that the goal still today? A movement free from the inconveniences of conscience and morality? Young people before whom the whole world will tremble… a generation capable and cruel, without compass.
America, we have succeeded where Hitler failed. And, it required no arms. We did it with passivity, affluence, boredom, sexuality and “rigorous academia.” Aren’t we so very clever?
What evils we now justify, what destruction we are capable of, what death we exult. Not because we are oppressed or slaves under wicked rule, but BECAUSE WE ARE SO VERY, VERY FREE.
Free from the Creator, we destroy His creation.
Free from the King, we operate in tyranny.
Free from the Giver, we drown in both waste AND want.
Free from the Father, we live in rebellion and irreverence.
Free from the Judge, we deem what is right in our own eyes and cruelly enforce it.
This is our nation of abolition.
Abolished God. Abolished sin.
Abolished absolutes. Abolished truth. Abolished submission, gender, marriage, parenting and family.
Abolished children.
Abolished holiness.

Righteousness is no longer the goal.

“Right for us” will do just fine.

We are seeing cities shutter and board up ahead of what is foregone destruction and rioting. In preparing to allow it, we encourage it.
The nation we desire will require far more guts and backbone. We would rather adapt and keep buying glass, then bear the consequences of asking the Lord to truly HAVE HIS WAY IN US.
It would be so uncomfortable, so stringent, we fear.
He might ask us to burn our idols.

We are the generation dictators desired, without values enough to resist, without history enough to defend, without truth enough to reason… without conscience.

The gloom of our doom is:
This is, in fact, how it is. We have made evil a joke. So abstract and subjective, we can’t possibly judge or evaluate it, we might as well enjoy and celebrate it instead.
But, the Hope that remains is Christ. Christ who has overcome the world and all that’s in it. Christ who saves from sin. Christ who is the Way, Truth and Life… still extends his hand to us today. Christ alone has the final say on this generation. Make them mighty, Lord.
